Preparation for worship

Trinity Season

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

Collect

O Lord, we beseech you mercifully to hear the prayers of your people who call upon you;
and grant that they may both perceive and know
what things they ought to do,

and also may have grace and power faithfully to fulfil them; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.

(or)

Lord of creation,
whose glory is around and within us: open our eyes to your wonders,
that we may serve you with reverence and know your peace at our lives’ end, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Post Communion

Almighty God,
you have taught us through your Son
that love is the fulfilling of the law:
grant that we may love you with our whole heart and our neighbours as ourselves;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Collect

Almighty God,
you have made us for yourself,
and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in you: pour your love into our hearts and draw us to yourself, and so bring us at last to your heavenly city
where we shall see you face to face;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
(or)
Gracious God,
you call us to fullness of life:
deliver us from unbelief
and banish our anxieties
with the liberating love of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Post Communion

Lord, we pray that your grace
may always precede and follow us,
and make us continually to be given to all good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
