Funerals and Memorial Services

Funerals and Memorial Services

The church is here for the community in all seasons

available to everyone, giving support before, during and after the service, for as long as it's needed.

God himself stands alongside you in times of darkness as well as times of rejoicing.

As people approach the end of their lives, you can always ask for the Church’s prayers and ministry – whether you have been in touch before or not. we will be glad to pray for you and your family.

From the moment you contact us, throughout the funeral service, and for as long as you need us afterwards, we’re here for you. St Gregory’s Church has been helping people mark the end of life for generations of villagers.

But also a Church of England funeral can be held in a place that you choose – whether in our church, at a crematorium, cemetery or a green burial ground.

Christians believe that each and every person is uniquely made in the image of God. So a Church of England funeral is a good place to give thanks for all that was special about the person you knew and loved. It can include unique details, whether that is what people wear, the music that is played, readings that are chosen or simply a photograph at the front.

The service itself

Talk to Revd Gaenor about the person you want to give thanks for and the life you want to celebrate. They will help you work out what is possible.

Do also have a look at the national church website  https://churchofenglandfunerals.org

Please remember to let the Churchwarden know if you have any special requests such as specific recorded music to be played or any other audio system requirements.

After the service

After the service if you would like a pastoral visit please contact the clergy.

You will be invited to the annual All Souls Service at the end of October when we remember those whom we love but see no longer- which is open to everyone whether they are recently bereaved or not.

If you need more specialist bereavement support there are a number of local, regional and national organisations that can help- see the list below.
